Gaijin, led by Chef Paul Virant, is Chicago's first okonomiyaki restaurant, serving both Hiroshima- and Osaka-style versions of the Japanese pancake. The name means "outsider" in Japanese — a wink at Virant's own position, respecting traditional technique while bringing his own instincts to it, including the pickling and preserving he's known for.

Working with Wink Design Atelier and the Gaijin team, I helped design a website that reflects the restaurant itself — pulling from its interior, and letting the food photography do most of the talking.
